What does it mean for my everyday life?<br \/>\n&quot;Sharing the Bible&quot; is a spiritual way to engage with biblical texts and incorporate a &quot;word of life&quot; into one&#039;s daily life. It&#039;s not about a literal or historically accurate understanding, but rather about reading with an open heart and allowing the divine mystery in the words to come alive.<\/p>\n<h3>The Bible as a mirror of life and experiences<\/h3>\n<p>The Bible tells of encounters with God, the longings, and the faith of its authors\u2014conveyed in the language of their time. The stories often come from different sources, have been revised, or merged. Even if individual contents contradict each other, they serve to shape the coexistence of a people and a society.<\/p>\n<h3>What contradictions teach<\/h3>\n<p>So the Bible isn&#039;t about historical accuracy or a literal understanding. The polyphony isn&#039;t a mistake, but rather an expression of human experience. As with stories passed down orally, there are contradictions in the Bible\u2014that&#039;s perfectly normal. Imagine two people retelling the same story; it&#039;s never exactly the same story. Or when our parents tell childhood stories, they&#039;re often difficult for us to understand because times and ways of thinking have changed. When they tell us how long they had to wait in front of a phone booth, we might wonder: Why didn&#039;t they just use their cell phones?<br \/>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n        <\/p>\n<h3>Sharing the Bible as a spiritual meeting place<\/h3>\n<p>Sharing the Bible is a non-judgmental space where everyone is welcome \u2013 regardless of their religious background or theological background. We listen attentively to one another, speak in the first person, and allow space for personal thoughts and experiences. This respectful interaction opens our hearts to God and to our own and others&#039; life paths.<\/p>\n<h3>Finding my life&#039;s word: spirituality that works in everyday life.<\/h3>\n<p>At the end of the Bible sharing, everyone takes home a personal \u201cword of life\u201d \u2013 a spiritual companion for the time until the next meeting and sometimes beyond.<br \/>\nThe Word of Life is a thought, a phrase, a verse from the Bible that touches me. I take this word with me, recite it, move it within me, and allow it to resonate in my everyday life.<br \/>\nIn this way, the Bible is not just read\u2014it is lived. And the Bible&#039;s words become a living companion to my thoughts, actions, and faith.<br \/>\nIt&#039;s important that this Bible sharing in community subsequently influences one&#039;s own daily life: I take this word with me, read it, recite it, and see what emerges from it. Here we present a slightly adapted form that is also suitable for home groups, small spiritual groups, and other contexts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>\u00a0The seven steps of Bible sharing<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li><em><strong>Invite<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<strong> We realize: God is in our midst. Who would like to greet Christ with their own words?<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><em>To read<\/em> <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Bible text is read section by section and several times in turn.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>One person reads the entire text aloud \u2013 preferably in a different translation.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>linger <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>We meditate on the text in about 5\u201310 minutes of silence.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Everyone names a word or sentence that touched them.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Be silent<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<strong> For about 5 minutes we let God speak to us in silence.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Split<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<strong> Personal thoughts on the text are shared in the first person\u2014without discussion, without judgment. The others simply listen.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Act<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<strong> Which words accompany me in my everyday life? What do I specifically take with me? (Here I choose one word or phrase that I will &quot;ruminate&quot; until the next meeting, incorporate into my everyday life, and let it accompany me.)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><em><strong>Pray<\/strong><\/em><br \/>\n<strong> We pray together\u2014in our own words, in intercession, or in thanksgiving.
